Please allow me to introduce myself. I am an 1880's Victorian home built to show off one's wealth and taste. Fortunately, and rarely, my original features have been preserved, including my magnificent wood, the original transoms, and beautiful details that make all my guests say the same thing: "Wow!". I had been neglected for decades, and my current steward, who restore historic homes for a living, put all of their extensive knowledge and expertise into my makeover. I couldn't be happier. If I may be allowed to brag, my highest ceilings are over 12 ft, my rooms are very generous, with ample closet space even for a residence of younger age. I have two master bedrooms, both with en suites—one up and one down, a gorgeous laundry room and two sets of stairs. One for honored guests, and one for servants. The huge dining room has beautifully trimmed ceiling molding, and a chandelier to be proud of. There are two foyers, and some of the original lighting still graces my halls. Most of the furniture is included, since my stewards are moving to Colorado. My kitchen is only 2 years old. It has a hosier cabinet for a coffee station, Built in antique for part of the cabinets, a period, but modern, propane stove with electric oven and gas burners, granite countertops with a few copper inclusions, the island was built from antique doors and a hidden trash can that pulls out. And after 130 years, I finally got a copper sink. I love the period tile, too. My mechanics, including the AC, propane heat and stove, plumbing and portions of the wiring have all been put in since 2016, or later. A few years ago, we removed all the exterior siding, placed a fancy insulation called rock wool in the walls, and replaced all the rotten cypress siding with new cypress siding. Boy, did that feel good. I also got new lightning rods. They look like brand new earrings.
